On March 1, 1999 at the
Rotary Rocket Company
[link to web.archive.org]
facility at the Mojave Airport, California
was the rollout ceremony for
the Roton/ATV "atmospheric test vehicle",
a prototype for the Roton reusable single-stage to orbit launch vehicle.
Among a thousand attendees, I went there with a dozen members of the Experimental Rocket Propulsion Society (ERPS) from Silicon Valley. See my report to the ERPS mail list [link to web.archive.org] and my pictures in the pages from table on the right. AMSAT members: See my article about the Roton/ATV Rollout in the May/June issue of AMSAT Journal. |

Addendum posted in March 2005:
Rotary Rocket Company didn't find second-round investors to build the
spaceflight version of Roton, and shut down operations in 2000.
Their web site eventually went away too.
Since most news about the event has also gone away over the years,
I've added this list of others' pages who still have pictures and info
about the March 1, 1999 Roton/ATV Rollout event.
